U.S. nonfarm payroll ranks dropped by 23,000 jobs in July, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
That was the first decline in months. The preceding 12-month average was 34,000 jobs.
The U.S. unemployment rate decreased to 4.1% in July from 4.2% in the prior month.
