US offers work permits to 500K Venezuelans

The United States is offering work permits and temporary deportation relief to nearly 500,000 Venezuelans who are already in the country.

Officials with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security said the expansion of protected status is warranted due to "Venezuela's increased instability and lack of safety."

The Biden administration decision comes amid record illegal border crossings, Reuters reports.
