Demand for mortgages is slowing as the average interest rate on the most popular U.S. home loan hovers near a 13-year high.
Mortgage applications fell by 12% on a weekly basis. They were down 15% compared with the same week a year earlier, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association.
The average rate on 30-year mortgage loans is around 5.4%.
