The U.S. Mint will officially stop production of the penny.
A Treasury Department official told The Associated Press that the U.S. Mint has made its final order of penny blanks. President Donald Trump ordered penny production to cease earlier this year.
The Treasury is expecting annual savings of $56 million in material costs.
