US, Mexico reach sugar pact

The United States and Mexico on Tuesday reached a sugar pact.

The deal requires Mexico to export less refined sugar to the United States, but allows the country to increase its exports of raw sugar.

It also lifts the minimum prices for Mexican imports, which will likely be passed on by U.S. sugar refiners to food companies and beverage and confectionery producers and ultimately to consumers.
