U.S. job openings were flat in October, according to data released Tuesday by the Labor Department.
There were 7.67 million vacancies in October, which compares with 7.66 million in September.
The report, which was delayed by the government shutdown, additionally pointed to nearly 1.9 million layoffs, the most since January 2023.
