The U.S. House of Representatives approved a pair of bills supporting pro-democracy protestors in Hong Kong.
Chinese officials quickly responded, saying the country's relationship with the United States could be damaged if the bills become law.
"If America does not speak out for human rights in China because of commercial interests, then we lose all moral authority to speak out on behalf of human rights any place in the world," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said.
