U.S. foreclosures fall 9.9% in June

Posted online
During June, 49,000 foreclosures were completed nationwide, according to real estate market tracker CoreLogic (NYSE: CLGX).

Last month's figure represents a 9.9 percent decrease compared to the 54,000 completed foreclosures in July 2013. June foreclosures were up 2.7 percent from 48,000 in May of this year, according to a news release.

As of June 30, there were roughly 648,000 U.S. homes in some stage of the foreclosure process, which is known as the foreclosure inventory.

"While 32 straight months of year-over-year decline in the foreclosure rate is cause for celebration, the total number of homes still in the foreclosure process remains almost four times as high as the average in the early 2000s," said Mark Fleming, chief economist for CoreLogic, in the release.

For the 12 months ended June 30, there were 13,400 foreclosures completed in Missouri, compared to 16,642 in the year ended June 30, 2013. Missouri's foreclosure inventory was 0.6 percent last month, according to CoreLogic.
