Real estate market tracker CoreLogic (NYSE: CLGX) reports 48,000 foreclosures were completed in the U.S. in October, a 30 percent decrease from 68,000 in the same month of 2012.
As of October, roughly 879,000 U.S. homes were in some stage of the foreclosure process, down 31 percent from 1.3 million in October 2012, according to a news release.
"In October, every state posted a year-over-year decline in completed foreclosures, which is positive news," CoreLogic President and CEO Anand Nallathambi said in the release. "Additionally, the rate of serious delinquencies, which fell more than 25 percent year over year, is at the lowest level in nearly five years."
CoreLogic reports Missouri homeowners completed 14,169 foreclosures for the 12 months ended in October, a 0.3 percent decrease from the same period a year prior.
Overall, roughly 4.6 million completed foreclosures have been recorded nationwide since the financial crisis began in September 2008. Prior to the housing market decline in 2007, completed foreclosures averaged 21,000 per month 2000-06, the release said.
