US firm the frontrunner to buy Takata

A Detroit-based company is the frontrunner to purchase troubled Japanese airbag maker Takata.

An independent committee set up by Takata recommended a takeover bid by Key Safety Systems. A final decision has not yet been made.

Sweden's Autoliv, another top bidder, was rejected due to antritrust concerns.
