U.S. factory output increase led by auto industry

U.S. factories increased output in August by largest amount in eight months, helped by a robust month at auto plants, according to an article by the Associated Press.

Automakers increased production 5.2 percent, after a 4.5 percent decline in July. Overall manufacturing production rose 0.7 percent in August – the largest increase since December – up from a 0.4 percent dip in July.

According to an article by the Kansas City Business Journal, President Barack Obama will visit Ford Motor Co.’s Kansas City assembly plant Sept. 20.
