US economy shrinks 4.8% in Q1

U.S. gross domestic product fell by 4.8% in the first quarter, according to the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

That's the biggest drop since the height of the Great Recession, and it marks an end to the country's longest economic expansion.

Economists are predicting a larger decline in the second quarter, which would mean a technical recession.
