U.S. deficit falls to lowest point since 2008

The federal government's latest annual deficit is the smallest it's been since 2008, according to Treasury Department data released Wednesday.

The fiscal 2013 deficit fell to $680 billion, 51 percent less than it was in 2009, when it hit a record high of $1.4 trillion, according to CNNMoney.

The Treasury said receipts accounted for 79 percent of the decrease from last year.
