US consumer prices drop for first time since start of pandemic

U.S. consumer prices dropped for the first time since the start of the pandemic.

The federal government's consumer price index dipped by 0.1% in May. It had not recorded a month-to-month decline since May 2020.

Gas prices and new and used car prices factored into the decrease.
