U.S. Congressional District 7 Seat candidates to be at Ozark Empire Fairgrounds

Posted online
Ten of the 11 candidates running for the U.S. Congressional District 7 Seat will be at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds on July 19 as part of a legislative forum.

Democrats Tim Davis and Scott Eckersley; Republicans Jack Goodman, Billy Long, Mike Moon, Darrell Moore, Gary Nodler, Michael Wardell, Jeff Wisdom; and Libertarian Kevin Craig will appear at the event

The forum, sponsored by the University of Missouri Southwest Region Extension Council and the Mizzou Alumni Association, will have the politicians discuss their positions on a variety of issues, especially higher education, according to an MU Extension news release.

The event will be held at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds E*plex at 3001 N. Grant Ave. Doors will open at 6 p.m., and the forum will run from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., according to the release.

Mike Peters, St. John's Mercy Health Systems vice president for public affairs, will moderate the forum. Representatives from KOLR 10, KWTO 560 AM, KSNF of Joplin and MU Extension will serve on the questioning panel, the release said.

The first hour of the event will be aired live on KOLR 10 and KSNF, and the second hour will be a live stream on www.ozarksfirst.com and www.fourstates.com, according to the release. The entire forum will be aired on KWTO 560 AM.

David Burton, MU Extension civic communications specialist, said the media partnership will better serve the candidates and voters.

“Members of our volunteer regional extension council began planning this event in April but when folks at KOLR and KWTO asked to partner it helped us create a better educational program for attendees and an expanded event for the candidates,” Burton said in the release. “Now, instead of being a local event this is truly a regional event with coverage in both Springfield and Joplin."[[In-content Ad]]
