US cancels Philips ventilator order

Dutch medical equipment maker Philips announced the U.S. Department of Health canceled most of an order for 43,000 ventilators.

A U.S. Congress House Subcommittee on Economic and Consumer Policy report in July found the White House had overpaid Philips by at least $500 million.

Philips now will deliver 12,300 hospital ventilators by the end of the year. The remaining 30,700 ventilators are expected to be picked up by other buyers, a company spokesperson said.
