U.S. blood banks are experienced their biggest shortages in a decade, The New York Times reports.
The American Red Cross, which supplies 40% of the nation's blood, cites a diminishing number of healthy donors.
“This is the biggest challenge that I’ve seen in my 30 years in the business,” said Chris Hrouda, president of biomedical services at the American Red Cross.
