Chapter 11 bankruptcy filings slowed in August, according to legal services firm Epiq Systems Inc.
During August, 525 businesses filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. That's down 18% from July but up 17% from August 2019.
Companies that filed for bankruptcy included those in the retail, energy, entertainment and hospitality industries.
