Joe Carmichael, president and manager of Springfield law firm Carmichael & Neal PC, has been named to the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission.
Gov. Jay Nixon announced the appointment Monday. Carmichael's term ends March 8, 2015.
Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce President Jim Anderson, meanwhile, has ended his term on the highways commission. Anderson's term, which included stints as chairman and vice-chairman, officially ended March 1. He and Hayti resident Duane Michie, whose term also ended, both joined the commission in 2001.
The commission also has a new chairman and vice-chairman. Mike Kehoe, an auto dealership owner from Jefferson City, on March 4 started a one-year term as chairman. David Gach, a diesel repair business owner from St. Joseph, started a one-year term as vice-chairman.
The six-member bipartisan commission governs MoDOT, which has more than 6,200 employees and an annual budget of $2 billion. The other two commission members are Rudy Farber, of Neosho, and Grace Nichols, of St. Charles.
