Unsold US hotel rooms approach 1B

The U.S. hotel industry is nearing 1 billion empty rooms this year amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Lodging data firm STR reports more than 962 million room nights went unsold through last week.

The industry is projected to surpass 1 billion unsold rooms around Christmas.

It’s amazing that with the tremendous excess inventory that pricing is not better. I’m a road warrior and shocked that they will let the rooms set empty so often. I do hope things get better for them soon
