University City's council approved $28.5 million in funding for the renovation of two long-vacant city buildings.
The buildings behind City Hall once served as a police station and public library. They'll be renovated into a new police station and municipal court.
Funding is slated to come from the issuance of bonds that lease building equipment to creditors, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The city would pay rent to the creditors through 2049.
