UnitedHealth to buy Catamaran for $12.8B

UnitedHealth Group, the nation's largest medical insurer, plans to buy drug benefits manager Catamaran in an effort to contain pharmaceutical drug prices.

The deal is valued at nearly $13 billion, according to USA Today.

For its 35 million customers, Catamaran manages over 400 million prescriptions.
