Volunteer work during United Way Ozarks Region's annual Day of Caring exceeded an estimated $220,000 in labor value this year, according to data released by the organization.
During the June 26 Day of Caring, 1,483 volunteers donated 6,878 volunteer hours at an estimated labor value of $220,577, said Brandon Jenson, director of community impact for United Way Ozarks Region. He noted the estimated value is calculated using the most current Missouri rate for volunteer time through a tool offered by nonprofit advocacy organization Independent Sector.
The latest data compares with 1,440 volunteers, 6,770 volunteer hours and an estimated value of $210,969 in 2024, Jenson said.
Nonprofit participants this year that were not involved in the 2024 Day of Caring included Castaway Animals Rescue Effort, Good Samaritan Boys Ranch and SeniorAge Area Agency on Aging, he said. More than 50 nonprofits participated in this year’s volunteer day.
During Day of Caring, employees from various employers throughout the area volunteer time for projects at local nonprofits.
