United Way president Rush retires

Posted online
United Way of the Ozarks President and CEO John Rush is retiring today after 20 years with the organization.

Rush, 68, says he plans to stay in Springfield and has no intentions of taking up another job.

A farewell celebration in Rush’s honor was held last Thursday at Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.

“It’s been great,” Rush said. “I’ve been here 20 years, and it’s been a very good experience for me.”

During Rush’s tenure, United Way’s annual fundraising totals exceeded $3 million annually, making it the largest volunteer organization in the area, according to a news release.

Rush said his replacement has been determined but declined to name the person until United Way makes an announcement soon.[[In-content Ad]]
