More than 1,400 volunteers from Ozarks area businesses and organizations are expected to participate in the Aug. 15 Day of Caring, an annual United Way event.
Local underwriters for this year's Day of Caring event are Bass Pro Shops Inc. and First USA/Bank One.
According to an announcement from the United Way of the Ozarks, volunteers will contribute their time and efforts to nonprofit United Way member agencies. More projects have been submitted this year than ever before.
Among the agencies that will benefit from Day of Caring volunteers are the Family Violence Center, the American Red Cross, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of the Ozarks, the Boys & Girls Club, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, The Association for Retarded Citizens of the Ozarks, the Salvation Army, Special Olympics, the Springfield Association for the Blind, The Springfield Family Y and the Victim Center.
The Day of Caring has been an annual United Way event since 1993.
