Rush, 68, plans to stay in Springfield and has no intentions of taking up another job.
“I’ve been here 20 years, and it’s been a very good experience for me,” Rush said.
During Rush’s tenure, United Way’s annual fundraising totals exceeded $3 million annually, making it the largest volunteer organization in the area, according to a news release.
Rush said his replacement has been determined but declined to name the person until United Way makes an announcement.
