United names new chairman to settle shareholder dispute

To settle a dispute with two shareholders, United Airlines agreed to make some changes to its board, including the addition of a new chairman.

Robert Milton, 55, the former CEO of Air Canada, will replace nonexecutive Chairman Henry Meyer.

Two directors chosen by shareholders Altimeter Capital Management and PAR Capital Management - Edward Shapiro, a PAR managing director, and Barney Harford, the former CEO of Orbitz Worldwide - will immediately join the board.
