United Airlines is warning of mass layoffs if the federal government does not provide “sufficient” help to the airline industry by month's end.
United officials said "our company will begin to take the necessary steps to reduce our payroll" in response to a 60% drop in scheduled April flying.
To start the year, United had 96,000 employees.
