United Airlines cited the coronavirus pandemic in announcing it may furlough up to 36,000 workers.
Airline officials said capacity this month is expected to be down 75% compared to July 2019.
If the company furloughs 36,000 employees, that would amount to nearly half of its U.S. frontline workforce.
