Unilever warns of more price hikes

After raising prices in the first quarter, Unilever warned of more hikes on the way.

The maker of Dove soap and Ben & Jerry's ice cream boosted prices by 8% in the first quarter, company officials said.

"As far as pricing and volumes, I think we are in unchartered territory," CEO Alan Jope said. "While we're acutely aware of the pressure on consumers, we believe that increasing prices in response to this extreme commodity cost pressure is the right thing to do."
