Alexander Raimo, a first-year business student at Washington University, sued the St. Louis institution.
In the class-action suit, Raimo seeks a refund of roughly $28,000 in tuition and fees for the spring semester after the campus was closed in March and classed moved online due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
Raimo “was left learning the course material independently without the same professor, teaching assistant and peer support experienced on campus,” the lawsuit reads.
Raimo's representation includes law firm Hagens Berman, which has filed similar lawsuits against Emory, Duke, George Washington, Boston, Brown and Vanderbilt universities, as well as the University of Southern California.
