'Undercover Boss' with Herschend CEO tops Sunday ratings

A CBS television show featuring Herschend Family Entertainment and Silver Dollar City in Branson scores the most viewers of all programs Sunday night.

CBS had the most viewers and topped key demographic groups Sunday with its program, “Undercover Boss,” which featured Herschend Family Entertainment President and CEO Joel Manby.

The show topped all of the night’s programming in all ratings measures, according to preliminary Nielsen ratings provided by Silver Dollar City.

The program was first in viewers (16.08 million), households (9.3 rating with a 15 share), adults ages 25 to 54 (6.3/15) and adults ages 18 to 49 (4.9/13). The ratings were the highest for the show since its Feb. 7 post-Super Bowl debut, according to CBS. The show’s premise is that each episode, a CEO goes undercover inside his or her company working at various jobs.

“I think obviously when a company gets exposure on ‘Undercover Boss,’ there becomes an interest in that company,” Silver Dollar City Senior Vice President Brad Thomas said. “People want to find out more about that company. We have seen people going to our Web site, but that doesn’t necessarily mean anything except they’re looking to see more about our company.”

CBS crews filmed five stories at four Herschend parks: two at Silver Dollar City, and one each at Showboat Branson Belle, Adventure Aquarium in Camden, N.J., and Stone Mountain Park in Atlanta.

Silver Dollar City workers profiled were Albert Sandford, customer relations person in charge, and maintenance worker Richard Bowling, along with Jennifer Smythe, wait staff worker on Showboat Branson Belle.
