The Dow posted its best-ever first year under a new administration since 1945 following President Donald Trump's Nov. 8, 2016, election.
The stock market index has risen 28.5 percent since last year's election, marking the fourth-best performance in history and the top since Franklin D. Roosevelt and his successor, Harry Truman, in 1945.
The Dow gained 29.83 percent in the first year under Roosevelt and Truman.
