Co-sponsors of the event include Springfield Police Department, CU and the Springfield Apartment & Housing Association.
The workshop is designed for landlords of single-family or multifamily properties. Presentations will provide information about rental agreements, applicant screening, crime prevention, recognizing drug use, fair housing and the city of Springfield’s public nuisance ordinance, as well as other issues related to rental properties.
“Last year we had over 700 housing units represented by the people who attended the event,” said UNA Executive Director Bob Horton, in a news release. “This workshop is a way to help landlords improve the quality of life for their residents while making their properties more profitable.”
Pre-registration is $25 for the event and includes a comprehensive manual outlining techniques and practices to help with rental properties. Registration forms are available at UNA’s Web site, www.unaonline.org, or by calling (417) 865-4774. The pre-registration deadline is March 20, after which the fee increases to $30.
