UNA serves the Grant Beach, Midtown, West Central and Woodland Heights neighborhoods and the Sherman Avenue PAC.
First on the roster is a town hall meeting scheduled 7–8:30 p.m. Feb. 26 at Big Momma’s Coffee House, 217 E. Commercial St., to gather input on Springfield’s next city manager. Residents are encouraged to tell the citizens search committee what characteristics they’d like to see in the individual chosen to succeed City Manager Bob Cumley, who is retiring June 1.
On March 15, UNA will present its sixth annual landlord-training workshop, scheduled 8 a.m.–4 p.m. at the City Utilities training center auditorium, 301 E. Central St, according to a news release. The event will include a panel discussion on best practices for resident screening, city codes and the nuisance ordinance, as well as a presentation on how drug demands in neighborhoods affect rental property. Making rental property safer for tenants also will be addressed.
The workshop is designed for landlords, whether they own single-family homes or multifamily units, according to a separate news release. Pre-registration for the workshop is $30 and ends March 10, when the fee will increase to $40.
Additional information about the town hall meeting is available by calling UNA at (417) 865-4774; more details on the landlord workshop are available at www.unaonline.org.
