The home at 801 N. Main St. previously was a triplex and was donated to UNA. It has been turned into a four-bedroom, two-and-one-half-bathroom home, and it’s already been sold, UNA said.
Donated goods and services to the project came from Community Alternative Sentencing Program, Air Services, Seminole Paint & Décor, Maschino’s, Historic Walnut Street Development and B’s Renaissance Renovations LLC, according to a UNA news release. Financing was made possible through UMB Bank’s contractor loan program.
“When we use the house-by-house, block-by-block philosophy, neighbors see progress and in turn fix up their homes,” UNA Executive Director Bob Horton said in the release. “This creates a healthier quality of life for the entire neighborhood.”
UNA works to revitalize five center city neighborhoods: Grant Beach, Midtown, Sherman Avenue PAC, West Central and Woodland Heights. Objectives include increasing home ownership, improving housing stock, encouraging employer-assisted home ownership programs, and marketing the neighborhoods to bankers and Realtors.
