UMKC entrepreneurship leader resigns

Posted online
Michael Song, who was recruited to set up the Institute of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Missouri-Kansas City, has resigned from the university, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.

Announced Friday afternoon, the resignation comes after a paper ranked UMKC's Bloch School of Management as No. 1 in the nation in innovation management research, and an article by the Kansas City Star raised questions about whether Song unduly influenced the authors of the study.

Earlier this month, UMKC Chancellor Leo Morton requested the Princeton Review withdraw its 2011-13 rankings of UMKC's entrepreneurship education programs over false data. The publication also pulled 2014 rankings for UMKC's entrepreneurship program, which had the graduate program ranked at No. 24 and the undergrad program at No. 25.
