UMB’s yearly earnings slide

Kansas City-based UMB Financial Corp.’s (Nasdaq: UMBF) 2015 net income moved down nearly 4 percent to $116.1 million from $120.7 million a year earlier.

Diluted share earnings for the operator of two UMB Bank branches in Springfield dropped 21 cents to $2.44 for the year, according to a news release.

UMB’s 2015 financial notes:
    •    Fourth-quarter net income improved by 10 percent to $29.6 million or 60 cents per diluted share, from $26.9 million, or 59 cents per share, a year earlier.
    •    For the year, noninterest expenses rose by 5.7 percent to $703.7 million from $665.7 million.
    •    Salaries and employee benefits increased to $406.5 million, a 13 percent bump from $358.6 million in 2014.

As of Dec. 31, UMB reported assets of $19.1 billion and deposits of $15.1 billion, according to the release.

UMBF shares were trading at $44.92 as of 10:46 a.m., compared to a 52-week range of $39.55 to $58.84.
