Faced with a proposal that would have effectively removed UMB Financial Corp. Chairman Mariner Kemper from his position, shareholders showed overwhelming support for his leadership by defeating the measure.
During the company's annual shareholder meeting Tuesday, shareholders gave the measure less than 15 percent of the vote, according to the Kansas City Business Journal.
An unnamed shareholder had
issued a proposal to require the chairman to be an independent member of the board of directors.
