Something happened in the United Kingdom on Monday that hasn't happened for the past 600 years – a time span longer than the history of America.
Bloomberg reports thousands of criminal trial lawyers staged a half-day strike in protest against government cuts to legal aid that have reduced their pay by as much as 30 percent.
As part of austerity measures to trim the country's deficit, the U.K. is trying to cut 350 million pounds – or $573 million dollars – from the $2 billion pound annual budget for legal aid, according to the Ministry of Justice.
