U.K. plans to enforce plain packaging for tobacco products

Following a similar move made by Australia in December 2012, the United Kingdom government plans to outlaw branded tobacco packaging as early as next year.

The news follows a report showing plain packaging could lead to a modest reduction in smoking uptake among children, according to Bloomberg Businessweek.

New Zealand last year became the second country to say it would outlaw branded cigarette packs.
