Ride-hailing company Uber is launching an initiative in North America to pay people $1,000 to give up their cars for five weeks.
The 175 people selected for the One Less Car trial would be given cash and credits to be used toward alternative travel methods, including Uber rides.
Uber is intending to highlight the costs of personal car ownership and the external effects on health and cities, according to The Verge.
