Uber hearing in St. Louis canceled, suit moved to federal court

Posted online
A scheduled hearing for a lawsuit that would bar Uber from operating in St. Louis was canceled Monday when the ride-hailing company moved the lawsuit to federal court.

The suit, filed by the St. Louis Metropolitan Taxicab Commission in St. Louis County Circuit Court, seeks a restraining order to prevent drivers from offering the company’s services.

Uber filed a suit in federal court Sept. 18, alleging the commission’s tactics violated the Sherman Antitrust Act, and sought a temporary restraining order to block commission regulations. The judge denied the request, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
