Uber fined $7.6M by California utilities commission

The California Public Utilities Commission agreed Thursday with a judge’s recommendation to fine Uber $7.6 million for failing to meet data reporting requirements in 2014.

Uber, which plans to appeal the decision, will still pay the fine to avoid a 30-day suspension of its license in California.

The company is charged with failing to provide regulators enough detailed information on the ride-hailing company's drivers and riders.
