Uber CEO quits Trump advisory council

Following criticism of Uber in recent weeks, the company’s CEO has stepped down from a position on President Donald Trump’s economic advisory council.

Travis Kalanick noted his participation was being misinterpreted as an endorsement of Trump.

“Joining the group was not meant to be an endorsement of the president or his agenda but unfortunately it has been misinterpreted to be exactly that,” Kalanick wrote in a memo to employees. “We must believe that the actions we take ultimately move the ball forward, but staying on the council was going to get in the way of that.”
