U-Haul expands South Campbell campus with acquisition

Posted online

U-Haul has expanded its campus on both sides of South Campbell Avenue, between Battlefield Road and Walnut Lawn Street, with the acquisition of a neighboring business.

U-Haul purchased South Campbell Storage, located at 3194 S Campbell Ave., on Sept. 24, according to a news release issued this morning. Sydney Ellis, media and public relations specialist for Phoenix, Arizona-based U-Haul International Inc., declined to disclose the purchase price.

“We’re excited to announce the addition of these easy-access, drive-up storage units to help us better serve the Springfield community,” said Kevin Sullivan, U-Haul Company of Missouri president, in the release. “This acquisition strengthens the U-Haul commitment to our deserving customers by offering them more trusted storage options at affordable prices."

Greene County assessor and recorder data shows the South Campbell Storage property is now owned by Amerco Real Estate Co., a division of parent company U-Haul Holding Co. (NYSE: UHAL) along with U-Haul International and others. A note amount is not listed with the September warranty deed.

The South Campbell Storage property is adjacent to U-Haul storage and offices at 3150 S. Campbell Ave. A strip center in front of South Campbell Storage is separately owned and not included in the purchase.

Across the street at 3145 S. Campbell Ave. is a U-Haul moving and storage center that previously was a Napleton Autowerks dealership. U-Haul purchased the dealership property in 2019, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting.

With the latest purchase of the roughly 1.7-acre South Campbell Storage, U-Haul has 1,131 storage spaces at the campus on both sides of the street, according to the release. South Campbell Storage added six one-story buildings comprising 219 units.
