Tyson joins the flock on curbing use of antibiotics

Tyson Foods Inc. plans to largely eliminate antibiotics used in human health from its chicken production, a sweeping move that signals how public pressure over health concerns is rapidly changing a decades-old practice in the meat industry, MarketWatch reports.

The largest U.S. meatpacker by sales, Tyson intends to eliminate use of the drugs by September 2017.

Tyson also is exploring similar moves in swine, cattle and turkey.
