Tyson hauling large donation to Ozarks Food Harvest

Springdale, Ark.-based Tyson Foods Inc. (NYSE: TSN) is slated to truck in 35,200 pounds of chicken to Ozarks Food Harvest this week.

Part of the seventh annual McDonald’s Cans for Coffee food drive at 63 restaurants in the Ozarks, the donation of 1,760 cases comprises 17,600 pounds of boneless chicken breast nuggets and 17,600 pounds of frozen, boneless chicken breast filet fritters with rib meat, according to a news release.

The donation will be be presented to OFH at a a ceremony scheduled 9 a.m. Oct. 30 at the food bank’s headquarters, 2810 N. Cedarbrook Ave.

Since 2008, Tyson has donated over 200,000 pounds of frozen chicken to OFH during the Cans for Coffee event. The food drive, which encourages people to donate nonperishable food items in exchange for a small McDonald’s coffee, has raised more than 140,000 pounds of food since 2008, according to the release.

OFH distributes approximately 1 million meals per month to 200 nonprofit partner agencies.[[In-content Ad]]
