Posted online
Springfieldians will have the chance to meet two former U.S. military leaders at upcoming events.

Gen. Colin Powell, former U.S. secretary of state and chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, is among the guests joining business speaker Zig Ziglar in Springfield on Oct. 15 for the Get Motivated! Business Seminar.

Ziglar is bringing what he calls "the Dream Team of Expert Trainers" to Springfield's JQH Arena as part of a 50-city nationwide tour. Organizers hope to sell out the arena, which seats 11,000 on the Missouri State University campus.

Among the guests: Powell, who will speak about being a "take-charge leader"; personal finance expert Suze Orman; health and fitness author Dr. Earl Mindell; Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw; and Missouri State University football coach Terry Allen.

Meanwhile, Col. Oliver North will be in Springfield Sept. 24 to serve as the keynote speaker at the Vitae Caring Foundation's 14th annual Pro-Life Benefit Dinner at the University Plaza Hotel & Convention Center.

North is a highly-decorated combat Marine, author and syndicated newspaper columnist and hosts the "War Stories" program on Fox News Channel. North also founded Freedom Alliance, a foundation providing scholarships for children of U.S. military killed in action.
