Twitter unearths your first tweet

Posted online
Tweets come and go in the blink of a second, but nobody ever forgets their first tweet – maybe.

To commemorate it's eighth anniversary, Twitter Inc. (NYSE: TWTR) launched the first tweet finder. Just type in the the user handle and the program finds that person's date-stamped tweet.

CNNMoney reports previously, if a person wanted to find someone's old messages on Twitter, they had to scour Google, try a social-search tool or scroll back through hundreds, even thousands, of tweets.

On March 21, 2006, the first Twitter message was published by Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey, who wrote, "just setting up my twttr." Twitter didn't launch to the public until July of that year, but grew steadily as it became recognized as a speedy source for news.

Springfield Business Journal's first tweet on Feb, 18, 2009, read: Allegiant Air announces Springfield, Mo.-Los Angeles flights starting in May. More at http://sbj.net.
